.drop table

.drop table

Delete a table from the current account's catalog and retire its indexed files. Run this management command through the query editor or normal query API with a query scope allowing control commands.

Spec

.drop table '<table_name>'

Parameters

  • table_name: Name of the table to delete, supplied as a quoted string.

Return Value

The command completes without result columns.

Example

.drop table 'logs'

Deletion removes the table and its records from subsequent catalog queries. Stop ingestion into the table first: ordinary ingestion can infer and create tables again.

Physical reclamation happens asynchronously. Blob references associated with retired indexed files are released through the retirement workflow. Shared references continue protecting blob content; deleting a table does not immediately unlink every blob it referenced. See blob retention and availability.
